Our Long Beach Mental Health Programs

Every teen deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported. At SoCal Youth Center, we provide an environment where young people can build confidence and connect with others who truly get them.

Healing takes time, and every teen’s journey looks different. Some arrive ready to open up, while others aren’t sure how to put their feelings into words. That’s okay. We meet each teen where they are, offering patience, encouragement, and the tools they need to express themselves in a way that feels right for them.

We believe in celebrating what makes each teen unique. Many of the young people we work with have struggled to fit in—whether due to mental health challenges, neurodiversity, or simply feeling different from their peers.

Here, those differences aren’t just accepted: they’re valued. We work closely with teens on the autism spectrum, as well as LGBTQ+ youth, providing a space where they can feel safe, supported, and understood.

Whether your teen is dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, or something deeper, they don’t have to face it alone. We’re here to help them build skills, confidence, and connections that will last a lifetime.

Telehealth Treatment: Therapy From Home

Getting the right mental health support shouldn’t depend on location or transportation. That’s why SoCal Youth Center offers telehealth therapy, making it easier for teens to access care from the comfort of home.

Whether your family lives too far from our Long Beach facility or getting to in-person sessions isn’t practical, virtual therapy provides the same expert care in a way that fits your child’s needs.

With just a computer and an internet connection, your teen can connect with our licensed therapists, just as they would in person. These one-on-one telehealth sessions follow the same structure as traditional therapy, providing support for depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges.

Telehealth therapy is covered by insurance, just like in-person visits, making it a convenient and accessible option for families. Your child will have access to a range of specialists, including licensed therapists (LMFT, AMFT), psychologists (PsyD), and medical professionals (MDs).

Every teen deserves quality care, no matter where they are. Our telehealth services ensure your child gets the support they need, when and where they need it.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): After-School Support for Teens

Some teens need more structure than weekly therapy but don’t require full-day treatment. That’s where our After-School Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) comes in.

Designed for teens who still attend school and live at home, this program provides the support they need while allowing them to maintain their daily routines.

How It Works:

  • Sessions run Monday through Thursday, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Teens receive private therapy, group therapy, and ongoing support from licensed therapists.
  • Psychiatric supervision is available if needed.
  • Treatment length is customized based on each teen’s unique needs.

Our after-school IOP provides the right balance of guidance, independence, and healing.

At SoCal Youth Center in Long Beach, we help teens build coping skills, gain confidence, and create a healthier “new normal” while staying connected to their education and home life.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): Comprehensive Day Treatment for Teens

For teens who need more support than outpatient care but don’t require inpatient treatment, SoCal Youth Center’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers a structured, full-day treatment option while allowing them to continue living at home.

What to Expect:

  • A personalized approach: Every teen receives a customized treatment plan designed around their unique needs, goals, and challenges.
  • A balance of therapy and education: Licensed teachers help teens keep up with schoolwork so they don’t fall behind academically while focusing on their mental health.
  • A full team supporting your teen: Treatment includes one-on-one therapy, group therapy, and psychiatric supervision to address a range of mental health, behavioral, and developmental concerns.
  • A focus on lasting growth: Teens learn to recognize negative patterns, build healthier coping strategies, and develop the confidence to navigate life’s challenges.

We also work closely with parents, schools, and any referring providers to make sure your child’s education, mental health, and overall well-being are fully supported.

Outpatient Treatment: Flexible Care for Teens

Not every teen needs a full-day program to receive the support they need. For those looking for a lighter level of care, SoCal Youth Center Long Beach outpatient treatment offers therapy that fits into their daily lives. This program is ideal for teens who have completed higher levels of care, such as PHP or IOP, or who are starting treatment at a pace that works for them.

What Outpatient Treatment Looks Like:

  • Teens continue attending school and living at home while receiving regular therapy.
  • Sessions take place Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., allowing teens to get the help they need without disrupting their school schedule.
  • Each treatment plan is tailored to meet your child’s unique needs, combining private therapy and group support.

Outpatient care provides a stepping stone for teens transitioning out of structured programs or a starting point for those who need professional support but not a full-time commitment.

Mental Health Treatment Services at Our Long Beach Location

We provide compassionate, professional care for teens struggling with mental health challenges. Our goal is to help young people build resilience, gain confidence, and develop the tools they need to navigate life’s ups and downs.

Depression Treatment

Depression isn’t just feeling sad—it’s a serious mental health condition that can make even the simplest tasks feel overwhelming. Teens with depression may struggle to focus, feel constantly exhausted, or lose interest in things they once enjoyed. It can affect their schoolwork, friendships, and overall well-being.

At SoCal Youth Center in Long Beach, CA, we help teens rebuild their self-esteem and self-compassion, guiding them toward a healthier mindset. Through therapy, social connection, and a supportive environment, we teach teens how to manage their emotions, regain motivation, and see their own strengths.

Anxiety Treatment

Anxiety isn’t just occasional worry. For some teens, it can take over, making it hard to focus in class, connect with others, or enjoy activities they once loved. It might show up as restlessness, difficulty concentrating, or even physical symptoms like headaches and fatigue. Others experience intense fear in certain situations and begin avoiding them altogether.

At our center, we help teens regain control over their anxiety in a supportive, structured environment. Through therapy and guided social interaction, they learn to recognize anxious thoughts, stay present in the moment, and develop practical coping strategies that build confidence over time.

ADHD Treatment

Teens with ADHD often struggle to stay focused, complete tasks, or manage their emotions, which can make school and daily life frustrating. It’s not just about attention—many also deal with restlessness or difficulty following through on responsibilities, leading to feelings of discouragement.

At our center, we create a structured, supportive environment where teens learn strategies to stay organized and communicate effectively. Therapy sessions focus on building confidence and improving social skills, helping teens feel more in control and capable in their everyday lives.

About Our Long Beach Treatment Center

At our center, every teen deserves a space where they feel truly seen and supported. Many of the young people we work with struggle with self-confidence or finding where they fit in. We provide a welcoming environment where they can build meaningful connections and develop a stronger sense of self.

Some of the teens who come to us feel like outsiders, whether due to social anxiety, gender dysphoria, or other mental health challenges. A large percentage of our clients are LGBTQ+ or on the autism spectrum, and we prioritize making our programs inclusive and affirming.

Our therapy groups are designed to help teens connect with others and feel a sense of belonging. Each week, we offer:

  • Identity group to explore self-acceptance and personal growth.
  • Communication group to build social skills and emotional awareness.
  • Self-esteem group to encourage confidence and resilience.
  • Dungeons & Dragons group for fun, teamwork, and creative problem-solving.

With therapist-led groups and a strong focus on social interaction, we help teens overcome isolation and embrace who they are. At SoCal Youth Center, healing isn’t just about mental health—it’s about connection, confidence, and a renewed sense of hope.
